Due to high rates of poverty, child marriage, food insecurity and climate instability, access to secondary education is limited in certain regions in Bangladesh.
Kamrul’s approach
Kamrul has over 15 years of experience working in education, from digitizing primary schooling system in a sub-district of Cox’s Bazar, establishing Child-Friendly Spaces in Rohingya refugee camps to managing an inclusive education initiative, focusing on the enrolment, retention and rehabilitation of girls with disabilities. He is currently serving as JAAGO Foundation’s Education Program Manager.
JAAGO Foundation was founded in 2007 with the mission to provide quality education and youth empowerment to children living in poverty and experiencing social inequality. JAAGO is working to revolutionize education in Bangladesh through their Digital Schooling Program where a hybrid learning model allows teachers to conduct online classes and JAAGO provides books, stationery and necessary equipment to students.
With their Malala Fund grant, JAAGO aims to re-enrol girls in the Kishoreganj district of Bangladesh who have dropped out of school and create a girl friendly learning environment through awareness raising and community as well as national advocacy. They aim to train teachers and provide life skills training to girls.
